Ice Cream Sandwich

Eric left the store and stood in the heat of the sun. The giant firey orb was bearing down with all its burning rays, while the sidewalk underneath cooked him from below. His body could do nothing but sweat.

He reached up and peeled off the wrapper of his treat, revealing two chocolate patties surrounding a white cake of ice cream. The ice cream was already melting, gluing to the peel as he pulled it back, and Eric took a bite, knowing he had little time before the whole thing would be gone.

The cold of the ice cream and frozen cookie was an instant relief from the boiling of the day. It melted faster in his mouth, and he swallowed before it could turn to liquid entirely.

Eric took another bite, larger this time, just barely fitting it inside his mouth. It was delicious, sweet, cold, and falling apart in his saliva. He swallowed and took another, and another, and another bite.

And the ice cream sandwich was gone. Eric hadn’t moved, and it was barely a minute since he left the store. He could feel his skin burning. He turned and went back inside for another.
