Day of Rest

The house was a mess. Not for any particular reason – there had been no parties recently, no major catastrophes to make things fall apart. It was just a normal day, in a normal week, during a normal month.

Still, the floors were dirty. The dust bunnies blew like tumbleweeds, the air was alive with dust motes dancing in the sun, and the bathroom door was best left shut.

Lawrence sat on the sofa, staring at the screen. In his peripheral vision, he saw another dust bunny go hopping by. He considered rising, but he was tired. Not worth doing. Best left to settle on its own.

He knew he would have to get to it tomorrow. But for today, he left the mess, accepting whatever would come with it.
