Louise grabbed the bottle of champagne and shook.
She knew she shouldn’t shake it. Tom and Adele had both, nearly simultaneously, told her, “Don’t shake the bottle when you pick it up.” So, with that remonstrance in her mind, she shook it extra hard.
Bringing the bottle back out to the living room, she handed Tom the bottle.
“You didn’t shake this, right?” Tom said.
“Of course not, Tom, what do you take me for?” Louise replied.
Tom looked at her, knowing Louise was prone to silliness. He unscrewed the cap holding the cork in place, and on the last twist the cork went flying off. Champagne sprayed everywhere, and Tom shouted.
Louise giggled loudly, while Adele ran off to grab a towel.
