December First: A Poem

One must remember the first of December,

For all its horrific glory:

The candy and treats and sweets we all eat

The debt accrued for a gift story.

It’s not like we need all the stuff and the greed

But children must be appeased.

Now bow to your dollar, the God of ad holler,

And wait just a year to repeat.
