Parked Cars

Harvey stood on the board, gliding down the street. He leaned one way, and moved a little to the left. He leaned the other, and moved a little to the right.

Ahead of him, Harvey saw a car. He leaned forward to go around it. Then he saw the head inside, and wondered to himself if the driver saw him.

Harvey’s question was answered a moment later by a door being thrown open directly in front of him. He slammed into it, bending the door forward. He fell to the ground, knocking his head on the pavement, glad to have worn a helmet today.

The driver was shocked, said, “What the hell, dumbass?” and pulled the door closed. He started his car and drove away, leaving Harvey to pick himself up and find his skateboard, which had reached the other side of the upcoming intersection.
