“You know what’s freaking crazy?” Tim said, as he walked in the door to see his roommate lying on the couch, still.
“What’s that?” Aaron said, barely lifting his head.
“The guy who discovered oxygen. I mean, what did people breath before that?”
“Dude, what the hell?”
“What do you mean, what the hell? It’s a legit question.”
Aaron pushed himself up on an elbow and sighed. “Okay, you know that the atmosphere is actually mostly nitrogen, right?”
“Yeah, I guess so.”
“So, before the dude discovered oxygen…”
Tim’s eyes lit up in understanding. “Oh! We just breathed nitrogen! That makes sense.”
Aaron nodded. “Exactly, man. Oxygen was just, like, flavouring for breathing. It’s like shake n’ bake or whatever.” He put his elbow down again and went back to staring up at the ceiling.
“I’m glad you settled that for me, I was so confused, man.”
