“WAAAAAAAAHHH!” the baby cried.
“Shhhh, little baby, shhh,” Ryan said.
“WAAAAAAAAHHHHH!” the baby continued.
“Okay, okay.” He lifted the baby and started to rock her, but she only cried harder.
“Shh shh shh,” he said, hoping he wasn’t disturbing the other patrons of the café.
He started to sing, which caused the baby to quiet for a moment. Then, midway through the second verse of “Wrecking Ball”, the baby started crying again.
“I know, I know, Miley’s not my favourite either. How about some Carly Rae Jepsen?”
The baby continued to cry.
“Fine, here you go kid.” Ryan pulled out a bottle and stuffed it in the baby’s mouth. The baby tried to cry around it, which made Ryan push a little harder. Unable to resist, the baby quieted, suckling on the milk. Ryan smiled at it. Her, he thought. Smiled at her.
